Dr Indhrin Chetty

Indhrin Chetty is a Forensic Psychiatrist and Academic Head, Division of Forensic Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry, University of the Witwatersrand and Consultant Psychiatrist at Sterkfontein Hospital. He obtained the MBChB at UCT and then completed the Fellowship of the College of Psychiatrists of South Africa (FCPsych SA) and the Certificate in Forensic Psychiatry. He also holds a LLB from the University of Kwa Zulu Natal. He is currently registered for the MSc Med (Bioethics and Health Law) at the Steve Biko Centre for Bioethics at Wits. He has previously served on the Board of the South African Society of Psychiatrists (SASOP) and is the current chairperson of the Forensic Psychiatry Special Interest Group of SASOP. He is also a member of the Council of the College of Psychiatrists of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. His areas of interest are Medicine and the Law, Bioethics and Human and Non-Human Animal Rights.
