Dr Rykie Liebenberg

Dr Rykie Liebenberg is a Psychiatrist in private practice. She has recently relocated to Swakopmund in Namibia, but was previously in private practice at Sandton Clinic, from 2002 to 2023. She qualified at University of the Free State in 1977, and obtained her Diploma in Child Health from the College of Medicine of South Africa in 1980. She worked in various rural hospitals including Katutura in Windhoek, Taung Hospital in Bophuthtswana, and in Kimberley for 10 years. During that time she worked as a GP, but also in anaesthetics, TB care, Psychiatry, and at a school for physically disabled children. In 1993 she started the specialization process and qualified at Wits `university and qualified in 1995. She worked as Clinical Head at Johannesburg Hospital before going into Private practice. Her interests are depression and Anxiety Disorders, as well as exercise in mental health. Her specific interest is Adult ADHD, and together with Prof. Renata Schoeman, she started the SASOP SIG in ADHD. This has led to further education in ADHD through workshops and congresses, and guidelines in Adult ADHD being published.
